Minor Update & Photographs

(Scroll down for pictures + update)

It has been a while since my last post. I have been making numerous enquires, all of which so far have been ignored. Perhaps I have come across as medling, or just plain neurotic by taking such an interest in a rather obscure topic.

I have a tendency not to express myself well (at 3am) so I do hope this comes across right. I feel I should clarify that I am not trying making any judgement about the 'truthfulness' of all the claims made. I have no intention of declaring hauntings are real or not (nobody likes a biased history site).

My interest, is in what I can show is definitely real. There was a house.... there were articles, there were stories, photos and claims made. As to whether they were truthful .... you may draw your own conclusions and please feel free post if you have any opinions, insite or contributions and so forth.

Summerwind Mansion was a beautiful building. My aim for this blog, is to show its history.

Currently have a backlog of things meaning to be posted. Trying to verify some of the sources....so while I am chasing that up..Heres a little update...

I found this photographThis is the same photo which was on the official Summerwind Mansion website with the copyright notice on it. However this one appears to be the original image, curious about its source. On the smaller image which was on the official site, it was captioned 'circa 1916, copyright 2006'

This shows the original building which stood before the summerwind mansion was built. The writing under this photo (what I can make out at least) says

"view of the main buildings at west bay lake resort"

"Summerwind was constructed during the early 20th century as a fishing lodge." -via wiki

Another find...

So far been unable to find the original source, as I suspect it wasn't from this site. Two incredibly detailed images.

from http://www.thechicagogarage.com/forum/off-topic/993-my-latest-exploration-ruins-summerwind-mansion.html

I have come across some attempts to join these images together. It would seem (on close inspection) they are two separate images, as one is on a slightly different angle.

I did try to join them. producing this ... (please note this is a manipulated image, as you can see the originals in the above links).

From the site it states it was taken in 'the early 1980s' to see larger http://oi50.tinypic.com/2h742m1.jpg  .

Another very detailed picture

  1. Thanks for the great pictures. I've had those pictures from chadlewis.proboards.com bookmarked on my computer for a long time! Completely fascinated by Summerwind! I even sent a letter in the mail to Harold Tracy a few years ago (supposedly he owns/owned the property recently), but I never got a response. If you learn anything else, please post it here!

  2. Who owns the land now? 2014 of summer wind mansion?

  3. The person that runs the Haunting Experiments website (http://www.hauntingexperiments.com/) may know. She did a mini-documentary on Summerwind about two years ago and, as I understand, was granted permission by the owners to be on the site. I'm not sure she would share this information, however. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask.

  4. It's been a year since you posted anything. I hope you update soon. One of these days I want to go out there and see if I can feel anything strange. I'm kind of afraid I will and it will change my life.

  5. I'd love to go there, too. I'm reading a "Wisconsin ghost story-type" book right now with a blurb on Summerwind. I've read this book a few times, but the section on Summerwind never get old.

  6. I would love to get some updates on Summerwind.

  7. The person who runs Haunting Experiments is a stalker. A cyber stalker to be exact. Devon Bell who had been sued for stealing content and publishing it in her name. Her company is a flunky of junkies. There's your word for the day!

    1. Sorry, deleted my first post because of a spelling error!

  9. I originally posted from my Devon's Domain Google account but after deleting it due to a spelling error; I decided to write the post under my full name instead.
My name is Devon Bell and I am indeed a co-founder of the production company, "The Haunting Experiments". The reason I am deciding to come forward and comment is because I noticed there was a negative comment made about me personally, posted on September 19, 2014 from someone who wishes to remain "anonymous"- that is why I think it's so important for me to post under my REAL name and not hide in the shadows.
First of all, I would like to say I love this blog and really give props to the author for all the hard work she has done! I am a local author and am working on my 5th book which is about the haunted history of Summerwind Mansion. It's set to release in summer of 2015 and will be published by The History Press.

The comment from the 19th mentions that I copy or plagiarize other people's work and publish them under my own name and that I was sued for this. This is all lies. I have never ever published or stolen anyone's works whether it's writing, music, anything. I am not a stalker or cyber stalker; actually I have been stalked for over 5 years now- online and offline (as well as several others). She has mainly stalked our Haunting Experiments company and tries to go online and defame/libel me any chance she gets. I will not use her name for reasons of privacy. I actually shared this blog on our Haunting Experiments Facebook page on September 19th (the same day she left a comment here); my stalker or one of her "aliases" saw it, shared it and made a rude comment. This led me to clicking again on this blog and finding the defaming comment about me.

I just want to say this: I love this blog and appreciate all the hard work and time conducting research that the author has put into Summerwind and I plan on utilizing information from several of the blogs for my upcoming Summerwind book. However, unlike what is stated regarding me in that nasty comment from the 19th, I WILL be citing my sources and giving full credit to any source I use.

If you decide to delete my stalker's comment, then I totally understand if you remove mine as well. I just like to stick up for myself from time to time and state that everything that comes out of my stalker's mouth are always blatant lies or fantastical stories that don't have one drop of truth to them.

I hope when my book is done I can share it on this blog. And I also hope to see updates or new blogs soon! Keep up the great work!

    Thank you,
    Devon Bell

  10. As it is stated and she's going nuts on her facebook page, she is a creep. She writes it well herself. Good job Bell!

  12. I would like to touch base with everyone about the plans for the property as it sits right now. In May of 2014 I was watching the Haunting of Summerwind on Destination America and watched Season 1 Episode 2 called the Haunting in Summerwind. Immediately afterwards, I went to search the history of Summerwind and came across the official Summerwind Website. In a small pull down menu, I saw it said blue prints for sale so I emailed the contact person who had them for sale and it was Ray Von Bober Jr. Ginger Hinshaw's brother, after that we became close friends and with a copy of the blue prints in hand I reached out to Craig Nehring of the Fox Valley Ghost Hunters. Who had direct access to the property, as he's close to the current owners who bought Summerwind in 1986. With Craig having access to the property, and me having the blue prints we came together to create the Summerwind Restoration Society. For the first time since 1988, there are major efforts to rebuild it. Anyone interested in helping with the project can join the facebook page.

    1. The blue prints have been evaluated by several contracting firms and a cost to rebuild is set, as well as the 501 (c) (3) is now in place. No future public benefits are planned at this point in time, but the property will be open to paranormal teams on select dates. Contact Craig Nehring for any inquiries on that. 920-428-1108.

  13. Or you may contact the actual owners of the Summerwind property as well.

    1. My best advice is to contact Craig Nehring at 920-428-1108 for all things related to the events on the property and join the Summerwind Restoration Society on facebook. I serve as his publicist.

  14. The Summerwind Restoration Society is a 501 (c) (3) business that I started with close friend Craig Nehring last year. Anyone that loves Summerwind, or wants to help with the rebuilding process can begin here.
